Networking and Real Estate Investing
3 Networking Tips for Real Estate Investors
Ever heard the phrase, “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know?" This old saying can be applied to several different aspects of life, but it can also be applied to the world of real estate investing. The ability to network and learn from other real estate investors who have years of experience and a wealth of knowledge on a variety of investing aspects is extremely beneficial to new real estate investors. The question an investor may be asking now is where can you go to network with these investors? Here are three networking tips to help you get into real estate investing.
1. Join the Real Estate Investor Association
One of the most popular networking events for real estate investors is called REIA’s. REIA stands for Real Estate Investor Association and there are several local meetings across the country. REIA’s are great for meeting and networking with other local investors and hearing from some of the top speakers in the industry. These meetings are typically once or twice a month and include time for dinner and networking before the scheduled speaker starts their presentation. During the networking session real estate investors looking for advice or new tips can talk with other investors and learn from their mistakes or what has worked for them in the past. They can also help with finding contractors, real estate agents, or anyone else who is a valuable resource to their investing business.
2. Go to Real Estate Networking Events and Conferences
Another great way to learn and network is through events and conferences. Networking events and conferences are like REIA’s but much bigger and span across multiple days with multiple speakers. Some of these events take place a few times a year in different locations across the country. These events do have costs associated with them that attendees are required to pay for but the knowledge and the connections that can be made make the trips worthwhile.
3. Be Active on Real Estate Investing Blogs
Finally another excellent opportunity to network is through an online real estate investing blog. What makes these communities great is that investors don’t have to leave their homes and have loads of information right at their fingertips. One of the most popular blogs for real estate investors is BiggerPockets, which posts tons of great content and advice from other real estate investors. These blogs also offer forums for investors to ask questions and get answers from other investors from around the country who are willing to share their past experiences.
Real estate investing is a great way to build wealth and improve communities. It also requires due diligence and an understanding of how to make the best possible investment. Learning from other investors who have been in your shoes and are willing to offer advice is invaluable to helping you grow your own real estate investing business.
